Honoring the Brave: A Memorial Day Message from Foxx Insurance

As a veteran-owned business, Foxx Insurance is proud as hell to stand in honor of those who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces, and especially those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Memorial Day is not just another day off. It’s a solemn reminder of the cost of liberty, and a time to reflect on the brave men and women who laid down their lives in defense of this great nation.

A Brief History of Memorial Day

Memorial Day has its roots in the years following the Civil War. Originally known as Decoration Day, it was established to honor the soldiers who died during the war. Americans would gather in cemeteries and place flowers on the graves of the fallen, recognizing their sacrifice with heartfelt gratitude. Over time, the holiday evolved to honor all U.S. military personnel who died in service.

In 1971, Memorial Day became a federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May. While the traditions may vary, parades, ceremonies, moments of silence, one thing remains constant: the deep respect we owe to every hero who never made it home.

Our Commitment at Foxx Insurance

At Foxx Insurance, we carry our military roots with pride. As a veteran-owned agency, our mission is rooted in service, dedication, and integrity. We understand sacrifice, not just from textbooks or movies, but from lived experience. That’s why this day means everything to us.

This year, Memorial Day hits even closer to home. My daughter just graduated from Basic Training and officially joined the ranks of those who stand ready to defend this country. Watching her take that oath filled our family with pride, but it also sharpened our understanding of what service really means. Behind every uniform is a family, a future, a life. And too many of those lives have been cut short.

To those still serving, to the families who’ve lost loved ones, and to every veteran out there, we salute you. Your courage, your strength, and your selflessness are what make this country great.

This Memorial Day, let’s remember why we have the freedoms we enjoy. Let’s honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, not just with words, but with gratitude in action.

Foxx Insurance – Veteran Owned. Proud Forever.
